On this half day excursion discover why Yalta was liked so much by the Russian Tsars. Your coach will take you through the town and then head eastward to Massandra. In 1881, Tsar Alexander III commissioned master builders from France and Germany to construct his summer mansion in Massandra. Originally built as an estate for the Tsars, it became the summer dacha of the upper echelon Politburo members, including Stalin, Kruschev, Gorbachev and until very recently, remained closed to tourists. At the main gate, you will transfer to a minivan that will take you to the Palace.

During your visit, admire the beautiful interior, including original 18-th century furnishings and art pieces . Further along the coast, in a beautifully landscaped garden is Livadia Palace, formerly the summer residence of Tsar Nicholas II. Built in 1911 in early Italian Renaissance style for Tsar Nicholas II, the White Palace became famous as the Yalta Conference venue. In February 1945, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin met here to outline and coordinate plans for the Allied defeat of Germany. Guidelines were also established here for the foundation of the United Nations.

Following your tour, listen to a concert performed by a Kalinka folk group while enjoying Russian tea ceremony in the gallery of the Italian courtyard of the palace. Then reboard your coach for the drive back to the ship.
