Dnepro Bugsky Sea port specialization is to handle imported bauxite for Nikolaev and Zaporozhie alumina plants. The port has organized the export transshipment of acetic acid, alumina, molasses and residual fuel oil.
The port has 5 berths with the total length of 810 m. The port has two railway tracks and approach ways to the berths for motor transport. Molasses Handling Terminal has storage facilities to accumulate molasses with total capacity of 20 000 t. Residual Fuel Oil Handling Terminal has six reservoirs for accumulation of residual oil with total year value of receipts 1 Mt. The port comprises an open area of 15 800 sq.m for storage of up to 150 000 t of bauxites and different general cargoes.
The canal to the port has 9 bends: 5 of which pass through Dneprovsky canal and 4 pass through the Yuzhny Bug river. Vessels with dimensions exceeding above (Panamax-size) can be accepted by the port after coordination with the Traffic control. Tug-boat assistance is compulsory for vessels with LOA more 187m proceeding via the channel.
